Fun Fact/Favorite Hobby:
I’ll give you two!
1) I perform in the community production of the Nutcracker at Christmas with my daughter Violet.
2) I was a University basketball player, followed by coach, for 13 years prior to my veterinary career. Including holding the Head Coaching position at the University of Glasgow, while going through my vet degree.
Vet School:
University of Glasgow
Funniest Client Experience:
I once had an African Grey Parrot as a patient named Sam. Marg and Rick were the owners, and they were a cute older couple who were very kind people. African Grey’s often mimic what they hear from owners and learn to say phrases they hear often. When a female employee would walk into the room, Sam would greet them by saying, “(explicit 4 letter word) you Marg.” Followed by walking toward the employee and greeting them.
Advice for new grads:
Maintain humility. You lose that, you stop learning. It leads to intelligent self-respect without being overconfident or overly critical of yourself. It's ok to say, "I don't know, but I'll find out for you." Be honest, considerate and empathetic, these are the three corners of the trust triangle and build strong relationships. Always value your support staff, they are indispensable.
